The reason the character exists: the storyline half-brother he debuted by betraying at the first Hell in a Cell on October 5, 1997. WrestleMania XIV, the first Inferno match, WrestleMania XX, Buried Alive matches, and long stretches as tag partners — no pairing in company history sustained a story longer, and it ended as a team, at Crown Jewel 2018.
The 1998 program that gave Kane his only WWF Championship — the First Blood win at King of the Ring on June 28, 1998, taken back by Austin on Raw a night later. Their summer of stretcher matches and swerves kept the monster in the main event through the company's hottest year.
