The defining rivalry, because so much of it was real: the Iron Man match at WrestleMania XII, two years of escalating backstage contempt, and Montreal on November 9, 1997, where the worked fight became an actual double-cross. Michaels spent years denying he knew and eventually admitted he did. The on-air reconciliation on January 4, 2010 — a handshake and a hug in the ring — closed wrestling's longest-running genuine feud.

Crown Jewel, November 2, 2018 — a D-Generation X tag with Triple H against The Undertaker and Kane in Riyadh, which DX won. His retirement match was WrestleMania XXVI on March 28, 2010, where he lost his career to The Undertaker’s Streak, and that retirement held for eight years before the single Saudi one-off. He has not wrestled since 2018 and treats 2010 as the real ending; the record books have to list both.
